The Candlewood Amateur Radio Association (CARA) will be hosting the Western Connecticut Hamfest and swap meet on Sunday, September 11th from 8 am till Noon, Rain or shine. Outdoor tailgating and indoor spots are available!.
This annual event will be held at the Police Athletic League (PAL), 35 Hayestown Road, Danbury, CT.
This is “The Biggest Little Hamfest in Western CT” and is sure to have plenty for all electronics, makers, and Amateur Radio enthusiasts. Every year, enthusiasts from the greater Danbury area and surrounding states gather to swap gear, knowledge, and stories. This year there will be an Amateur Radio License testing session (9:30 am) as well as a presentation by Fred Kemmerer, the ARRL New England Director. We will also have the Region 5 Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) forum at 10:30 AM.
Get studying and take your first FCC Amateur Radio License test or upgrade your license while finding that great piece of tech you can’t live without! There will be electronics, computer, and radio equipment vendors, demonstrations, and refreshments as well. Raffle tickets will be sold for some great gear and your admission includes entry for the many door prizes.
Regular admission is $8 at the door ($1 discount with the flyer). Kids under 12 are free!
Vendor spaces are available for $20/spot. Each spot includes one admission. Get rid of that gear you don’t use anymore. There is sure to be someone there interested in your used/unused computer, electronic, or radio gear.

Take exit 5 and proceed in the right exit lane down the hill to North St (Stright ahead) Follow North St to Hayestown Ave. Right on Hayestown Ave. (Union Saving Bank on right) Follow to end, at traffic light make left on to Tamarack Ave. go straight it becomes East Hayestown Road, At the end make right 500 feet PAL on the right.
Traveling I-84 West;
Take Exit 6, at the light turn right (stay in the right lane).
Follow North St to Hayestown Ave. Right on Hayestown Ave.. (Union Saving Bank on right)
Follow to end, at traffic light make left on to Tamarack Ave. Go straight it becomes East Hayestown Road, At the end make right 500 feet PAL on the right.
