Our ‘weather guru’ Kenny K2KRP has contacted me to suggest that forecast conditions might call for a ‘Pop-Up Weather Net’.
A Winter Storm Warning or Winter Weather Advisory has now been announced by the Albany National Weather Service office for the region usually covered by the Hudson Valley 80 Meter Net.
We will conduct an 80 Meter Weather & Welfare check Net Tuesday, February 27 at 7:30 am on 3.835 MHz (+/- 5-10 kHz). If conditions justify additional Nets later in the day, the Net Control will announce this at the close of the Net.
No special weather reporting devices are required.
The basic report is simple and brief:
Precipitation type;
amount or depth of precipitation;
wind speed and direction (if known);
any known hazards or utility outages.
